Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has shared a message on social media after his suspension for a positive test on a banned substance was lifted.

Pogba tested positive for DHEA in September 2023 and was banned for four years shortly afterwards. The substance that is banned by the anti-doping committee WADA promotes the growth of hormones including testosterone which can help enhance sporting performance.

At the time, the midfielder's agent, Rafaela Pimenta, insisted that Pogba 'never intended to break the rules.' Following an appeal, the anti-doping authorities agreed that Pogba had not taken the substance purposefully and thus decreased his ban to 18 months.

That meant he could return to playing professional football on March 11 - today. While banned, Pogba agreed to mutually terminate his contract at Juventus meaning he is a free agent.

There had been some speculative talk about Pogba coming back to United for the remainder of the season, at least, but this was never considered likely. His former teammate Mason Greenwood insisted that he would be delighted to see Pogba reunite with him at Marseille.

The midfielder has also spent a lot of time in the United States, particularly with David Beckham at his MLS club Inter Miami, fuelling speculation that his next move could be to the US. However, upon his return to professional football, Pogba has so far remained silent about his future, although he did re-share a post from friend Alessandro Riggio which read: "Look who is back."

Due to being a free agent, Pogba can join a new club at any time now, even though the transfer window is currently closed - and his message shows the midfielder is certainly ready to do so.
